Hello! I'm Daniel Wachs, writer and producer of "How To Sleep In The Cold." The film is based on the true story of my encounter with a young, homeless woman a number of years ago. I saw her in a huge, empty parking lot at a former Burger King in Lake Mary, FL and noticed something surprisingly different about her. So I drove up to question what she was doing. The answer, delivered in a calm and friendly manner, opened my eyes to a world I didn't know. Considering that "How To Sleep" is a short film, only 18 minutes in length, the realities of her story (and many like her) are explored in depth. In some ways, it's like a "how to" primer on living without a home. There will be no spoilers here so I can't say much more about the story line. Except for the fact that most non-homeless people have no idea of the hardship, resilience, and brilliance of people who have to carve out their lives in the most inhospitable conditions imaginable. More to come as we expand this brand-new Website, launched in April,2025. Thank you for visiting. You can view some screen-grabs from the movie here. Cast and crew details are here. FYI, the film has been entered into a number of film festivals. As of late August, 2025 we've been accepted into the following: FLIFF (Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival) Shorts, CENFLO (Central Florida Film Festival), and MIFF (Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival). More news to come!
